A brother of Robert Wight (the latter since 1819 surgeon in the employ of the Madras Settlement, from 1826-28 Superintendent of the Botanic Garden at Madras).1 He visited Malacca ( ? Mt Ophir, somewhat later than 1818)2 and collected a few plants for R. Wight; cf. also sub Daud. [Vol. 5:] It seems improbable that this collector is identical with the brother of R. Wight (cf. Cyclopaedia Fl. Mal. vol. 1), as the Singapore Herbarium was not existent at that time. |
