Mining engineer who interrupted his years of study to accompany the expedition of the Royal Dutch Geographic Society to the Kai Islands (1888-90), as geologist-naturalist. To my knowledge botanical collections were exclusively made by Jaheri (see there for itiner., liter., etc.). Mucuna wertheimii Burck was named after him; the seeds of this species were collected by Jaheri (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936, also for additional biographical data on Wertheim). |
