The prewar series is sometimes cited with B.N.B. (British North Borneo) nos, but also with S.H. (Sandakan Herbarium) nos, though they stand for the same series. In November 1954 the Forest Botanist, G.H.S. Wood, wrote a letter that he was shortly exhausting his Sandakan postwar A series numbered A 1-5000. The new series is numbered (SAN) 15.000 onwards, to be sure no duplication with prewar numbers will occur, the highest record Mr Wood could find being 10.802. |
