Born: 1888, Dordrecht, Z.H., Holland. Died: 1984, Bilthoven, Holland.

 

career:

A physiologist who graduated (Ph. Dr) at Utrecht University in 1912; Chief Assistant of the Phytopathologist of the Java Sugar Experiment Station (Pasoeroean), 1912-14; teacher at the Medical College (N.I.A.S.) at Soerabaja, 1915-Jan. 1921; University Lecturer at Amsterdam, 1921-23; Professor of Botany at Transvaal University College, Pretoria (S. Africa), 1924-31. At present he lives at Zeist, Holland, where he devotes himself to the study of Rubiaceae, Acanthaceae, etc.

He is the author of several physiological, taxonomical, and morphological papers, and besides of some small sketches of the Javan landscape.1
