MacArthur, Sir William

Born: 1800, Parramata, Australia. Died: 1882, Camden Park, N.S.W., Australia.

 

career:

Son of Capt. John MacArthur; botanist, horticulturist and agriculturist. He sent his gardener J. (or ? P.) Reedy (see there) with MacLeay’s ‘Chevert Expedition’ to New Guinea (cf. sub Sir W. MacLeay). Probably he himself never was in New Guinea.

Several plants were named after him.
