Born: 1881, Amsterdam, Holland. Died: 1961, Haarlem, Netherlands.

 

career:

Studied natural history at Amsterdam University. He was Temporary Assistant of the Botanical Laboratory at Buitenzorg (Java) from 1907-09, and then returned to Holland. From 1910-13 Custodian of the Colonial Museum at Haarlem, since 1914 Director of the Colonial Agricultural Museum at Deventer, in 1915 appointed teacher at the Colonial Agricultural School at Deventer, and since 1931 Director of that school. He resigned in 1947.

 

Collecting localities:

1908. W. Java: G. Tangkoeban Prahoe (May 28); E. Java: Tosari (June 6); W. Java: Tjinjiroean (July 1, possibly on an earlier date too); E. Java: G. Tengger (Aug. 8).-1909. W. Java: Antjol (March 11).

Before 1910 he sent orchids from G. Kendeng (near Garoet, W. Java) to J.J. Smith, Buitenzorg.
