Studied natural history at Neuchâtel and Berne, taking his Ph.Dr’s degree in 1904 on a mycological subject. In June 1905 he came in Java as Botanist-Mycologist of the Cocoa Experiment Station at Salatiga (Centr. Java); in 1909 stationed at Malang, and in 1911 appointed Director of the newly erected Experiment Station there.1 |

Herb. Bog. [BO]: dried orchids etc. (pres. 1913 and 1916); Herb. Berne [BERN]: botanical objects from Java, incl. a beautiful collection of Javan mountain plants (pres. 1914 and 1928), and parasitic Fungi. From a letter from Valckenier Suringar, dated July 13, 1928 (in the archives of the Buitenzorg Herbarium), it is evident that Herb. Wageningen [WAG] has a collection of his plants too. |
