In the cited biography it is mentioned that Weiss wrote in his will to sell his herbarium either to Dr Scheffer at Buitenzorg or to Dr Fenzl at Vienna. At the time of his death the Hungarian naturalist von Xantus was in Singapore, and bought it for the Pester Museum (= Budapest [BP]) (c. 5000 nos), and promised to give duplicates to Vienna. Evidently plants were presented to Herb. Bog. [BO] too in 1870; they were numbered in the H.B. series of that Herbarium. In Herb. Berlin [B]: plants from Hongkong.2 A set was presented to the Herb. Bot. Zool. Soc. Vienna.3 In Herb. Leiden [L]: 50 fern dupl. (pres. by Budapest). |
