Born: 1881, Zetten (Valburg), G, Holland.

career:

Biologist, teacher at secondary schools in Java from 1912 onwards.¹ In 1925 he took his Ph.Dr’s degree at Utrecht University, and towards the end of the year was appointed teacher at the S.T.O.V.I.A. (Medical College) at Batavia; from 1927 teacher at the N.I.A.S. (Medical school at Soerabaja); in 1932 appointed Director of the Students’ Hostel at Batavia. He retired in 1933, but stayed at Batavia; after World War II he returned to Holland in 1948 and settled at Oegstgeest.

His main interest is medicinal plants.
