In 1918 engineer on board a surveying ship of the Royal Dutch Navy operating in Malayan waters. In the cited year he collected living orchids in Sumatra West Coast and in the Mentawai Islands (P. Siberoet), which E.R. Jacobson (see there) cultivated in his garden at Fort de Kock. Dendrobium verschuurii J.J.Sm. is named after him (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936). |

His orchids were presented to Hort. Bog. by Jacobson together with his own collection in 1921. Of some plants material was dried on behalf of Herb. Bog. [BO]. |
