Chemist, educated and graduated (Ph.Dr 1906) at Utrecht University, and subsequently passing for chemical engineer at Delft in 1907. He came to the Dutch East Indies in 1907, where he was appointed on the staff of the Experiment Station at Salatiga (Centr. Java); since 1912 Director of the Experiment Station at Djember (E. Java); from Dec. 1921-1923 Head of the Phytochemical Laboratory of the Botanic Gardens at Buitenzorg (W. Java); finally from 1923-32 Director of the Experiment Station at Malang (E. Java). Author of mainly phytochemical papers.1 |

At first he numbered each collection separately; since Sept. 1928 they are numbered consecutively, starting with no 1; the last Sumatra collection is probably numbered apart. His private herbarium was deposited respectively at Djember and Malang Exp. Stations. |
