Born: 1885, Osaka, Japan.

 

career:

Graduated at Tokyo University, 1910; Dr of Agriculture, 1932; Professor of Horticulture and Applied Botany at Taihoku Imp. University, 1929-44; Emeritus Professor, 1945. Well-known Citrus specialist.1

In 1923 he was for a short time a guest of the Buitenzorg Herbarium. Early 1938 he was Guest Professor in the Philippines, making several collecting trips.2

 

Collecting localities:

1923. W. Java: in and around Buitenzorg (mostly Cultuurtuin = Economic Garden) (March or April).-1935. Malay Peninsula: around Singapore and Kuala Lumpur (Nov.).-1937 (or ? 1938).2 Philippines (Jan.-March): Luzon (northern half, central route, and western route, via Aparri, Laoag, and Baguio), and Mindanao (route through Davao, Cotabato, Dansatan and Illigan, including Bukidnon).-1944. Java around Batavia, Buitenzorg and Soerabaja (Sept.).
