He sent living and dried material of gutta-percha trees to the ‘Natuurkundige Vereeniging’ at Batavia in 1852. The said material was probably forwarded to Herb. Bog. [BO]; Lam cites a Palaquium gutta Burck collected by Steinmetz at Pariaman, Sumatra West Coast (cf. Bull. Jard. Bet. Buit. sér. 3, vol. 7, 1925, p. 31).
