Entomologist, educated in the Universities of Berlin and Zürich, taking his Ph.Dr’s degree in 1907 in the latter university; from 1908-11 on the staff of the Experiment Station at Salatiga (Centr. Java), from 1911-12 Acting Director, and from 1912-18 Director of the same institution; 1918-19 Entomologist at the Institute for Plant Diseases, Buitenzorg; since 1919 Professor at the Agricultural College, Wageningen (Holland), successively of Tropical Agriculture and of Plant Diseases. He visited the Moluccas in 1929, when he was in the D.E.I. on the occasion ofthe 4th Pacific Science Congress. Retired in 1953. Author of entomological papers on the butterflies of Java, etc. |
