Botanist, from 1893-1902 Assistant in the University of Vienna, from 1902 until his retirement in 1922 Assistant Custodian of the ‘Hofmuseum’ there. In 1905 he made a voyage in the Pacific, accompanied by his wife Lily Rechinger-Favarger (born: 1880, Aussee in Stiermarken, Austria).1 Several plants were named after him and his wife. |

New Guinea: Neu Pommern (= New Britain), arriving at Herbertshöhe (Sept. 10), visiting Massawa Bay (12), Baining Mts, Kaia Volcano (15); sailing (17) for the Solomon Islands: Bougainville and Buka (Sept. 18- . . ); Neu Pommern (Oct. 1-8): Herbertshöhe, visiting Vunakoker Volcano (Varzin) (4); former Kaiser- Wilhelmsland (= NE. New Guinea): Friedrichshafen (Oct. 10-11), probably before or after collecting on Siar Isl. in the Astrolabe Bay; via Hongkong, Singapore and Ceylon, back to Europe (Dec.). |
