Went to the D.E.I. in 1888 and was appointed Assistant on a tobacco estate of the Rotterdam-Siak Planting Comp.; Shortly after he settled in Java, first as draughtsman of an irrigation-brigade at Cheribon and subsequently employed in the Sugar and coffee-culture. Also ex-teacher at a technical school at Batavia. Since 1915 living at Depok, south of Batavia. Arachnis vanmullemii J.J.Sm. was named after him. |
