Born: 1868, Harløse ved Hillerød, Denmark. Died: 1952.

 

career:

Head-Curator of the Dept of Invertebrates, Carlsberg Institute, Copenhagen, 1917-33. He made a zoological world collecting trip to Japan, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, California, Panama, etc., in 1913-16. He was the leader of the Danish expedition to the Kai Islands in 1922, sent out by the Rask-Ørsted Fund at Copenhagen.1

 

Collecting localities:

1922. Moluccas. cf. sub Hj. Jensen and Iboet. After the departure of Jensen, Mortensen visited Banda (May 31-June 21); Makassar (SW. Celebes; June 27-29); Java Sea and Sunda Strait (July 13-Aug. 8); Tjibodas and Buitenzorg in W. Java; Sunda Strait again (1st week of Sept.).2

During the Danish Expedition to the Kai Islands, he collected a Thalassia on the N. coast of Doe Roa (= P. Doeroa) (Apr. 25, 1922).
