Assistant Conservator of Forests Malay Peninsula1 since 1907; in 1916 in Imperial Service, in 1918 in Sudan (Africa); in June 1919 appointed Conservator of the newly established Forest Department Sarawak;2 in 1926 temporary Forest Adviser to Fiji. In 1928 in the Malay Peninsula again; since 1930 Director of Forests, and in 1935 Director & Adviser on Forestry S.S. and F.M.S.; retired in 1940. In 1945 he returned to the Peninsula with British Military Administration for three months, as Lieutenant-Colonel. In the years 1935-38 he made visits of inspection in Johore, Kedah, and Kelantan. Shorea meadiana Symington was named after him. |

Malay Peninsula and Sarawak plants, at least partly, in C.F. (= Conservator of Forests) series, in Herb. Kuala Lumpur [KEP]. In 1926/27 he collected in Fiji. |
