Shorea martiniana Scheff. was named after him (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936).

In the years 1866-69 he sent several cases containing important plants from NW. Borneo (Sarawak) and from Dutch W. Borneo (Sambas), among which many species of Shorea, pinang and rattan, to Buitenzorg.¹ Material of some specimens was inserted in the H.B. series of Herb. Bog. [BO]. Material in alcohol in Herb. Leiden [L].
