Son of Capt. John MacArthur; botanist, horticulturist and agriculturist. He sent his gardener J. (or ? P.) Reedy (see there) with MacLeay’s ‘Chevert Expedition’ to New Guinea (cf. sub Sir W. MacLeay). Probably he himself never was in New Guinea. Several plants were named after him. |
