An Uncovenanted Official in Bencoolen, from 1806 to 1824. He was transferred to the Straits, and made Head of the Land Department at Malacca. In 1840 he became Assistant in Penang, then Resident Councillor of Malacca, and finally, in 1855, Councillor of Penang. He held the latter position until his retirement in 1860.1 A friend of Griffith; the latter named some plants after him. |
