Forest Officer, since 1913 in the employ of the D.E. Indian Forest Service; till 1920 stationed in various places in Central Java; 1921-27 in charge of the Forest Administration of Celebes, stationed at Makassar, making a special study of forest products (copal and rattan).1 He went on furlough in 1927 and made study tours in Europe and the U.S.A.; in 1930 appointed Head of the Museum and Inquiry Office for Economic Botany at Buitenzorg as successor of K. Heyne (see there). He retired about 1936. In 1938 he was appointed to a post at the Colonial (= Indian) Institute, Amsterdam; at present in the Office of Oversea Territories, The Hague. Shorea vandekoppeli Parijs was named after him. |
