Accompanied Schlechter (see there) on his wanderings in former Kaiser-Wilhelmsland (NE. New Guinea), e.g. in the hinterland of Angriffshafen, since Sept. 16, 1907.

Schlechter named several orchids after him (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936, sub adolphi and kempterianus).
