Botanist, educated at Utrecht University, passing the K IV examination in 1927; Assistant for Technical Botany at Delft, 1927-29; subsequently leaving for Java, and teacher in natural history at secondary schools in the D.E.I., respectively stationed at Malang (E. Java, 1929-31), Batavia (W. Java, 1931-34), Medan (Sumatra East Coast, 1934-36), from 1936-37 in Holland (on leave), at Batavia (1938-39), Soerabaja (E. Java, 1939-41), and at Batavia up to her internment by the Japanese. She made some anthropological trips to the Karo-Batak Lands (Sumatra, 1934-36), the Timor Archipelago and Celebes (1937-38), which resulted in some anthropological papers. |
