Born: 1919, Chicago, Ill., U.S.A.

career:

B.A. (1942), and M.A. (1947) degree in Botany, University of Illinois; at present working towards a Ph. Dr’s degree in Botany at the University of Oklahoma. From June 1943 to February 1946 he served in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist’s Mate, and made botanical collections in the Pacific.

Collecting localities:

1945. Philippine Islands. Leyte (betw. June-Sept.): Tacloban and vicinity, Baybay, Cacao and vicinity, Palo and vicinity, Dagami, Guingawan and vicinity, Tanauan, White Beach area, Burauen, Bayran, San Miguel, Dapdap, Alangalang, Lukay, Abuyog, Lake Bito and vicinity, Diit, Jaro; in the same period collecting in addition at Besey in Samar.

Herb. Arn. Arbor. [A]: 1st set (a lot of common weeds were thrown out by Dr Merrill); dupl. set in Herb. Univ. Illinois [ILL]: about 800 nos, 300 from Guam (coll. 1945/46),¹ the others from the Philippines.
