Horticulturist, Student-Gardener in the University Botanic Garden at Amsterdam; probably about 1840 already a resident in W. Java ( ? Assistant on Pondok Gedeh Estate); in 1847 appointed Assistant Curator in the Botanic Garden at Buitenzorg, at least in 1848 stationed at Tjipanas; he was dismissed in 1849, as he was imprisoned on account of shooting an Indonesian.1 After his release in July 1854 he was assisted by Teijsmann in starting a floricultural garden at Batavia. |
