Merchant of Bordeaux, France, made several voyages to the Orient between 1818 and 1837. He made zoological collections in Malacca, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Luzon (Manila), and outside the Malaysian region, enriching the Parisian collection with valuable natural history objects. In about 1836 he planned one of his voyages to India, and accordinglyhad a boat built, which was to be named ‘George Cuvier’. The said boat was to be provided with hothouses (cf. Flora 192, 1836, p. 606-607). |

As A. Decandolle in his ‘Phytographie’ (1880) does not mention Dussumier, it is hardly probable that his botanical collections amounted to much. |
