Born: 1908, Sitoebondo, Java. Died: 1972, The Hague, Netherlands.

 

career:

Mycologist, educated at Utrecht University, who took his Dr’s degree in 1933. From 1934-39 teacher at secondary schools at Soerabaja, from 1939-40 at the Medical school (N.I.A.S.) in the same place, since 1941 Mycologist on the staff of the Herbarium, Botanic Gardens, Buitenzorg. During World War II he was finally interned at Singapore, from where he was evacuated to Holland in March 1946 (previously working for some months in the Singapore Herbarium); he returned to Java in Sept. 1947. He was appointed extraordinary professor in the Technical College at Bandung in 1952, and returned to Holland in August 1955.

He made large mycological collections, but in later years collected ferns too.

 

Collecting localities:

(of ferns). 1939-41. E. Java: G. Tengger; Centr. Java: environs of Kalioerang (Djokja Sultanate); W. Java: G. Gedeh-Pangrango, and G. Patoeha.-1945-46. Singapore Island: Singapore and Bt Timah.
