Born: 1885, Arnhem, Gld, Holland. Died: 1951, Voorburg, Holland.

career:

Zoologist who got his education at Utrecht University, was for 2 years Assistant in the Nat. Hist. Museum at Leiden, and took his Ph.D. at Utrecht in 1910. In the same year he was appointed Entomologist of the Botanical Laboratories of the Botanic Gardens, Buitenzorg (in 1912 division of Plant Diseases); in 1919 Chief of the Zoological Museum and Laboratory, since 1932 also Director of the Botanic Gardens. He was pensioned off at the beginning of 1939, and returned to Holland in October of that year. He settled at Leiden.

His publications are principally in the field of agricultural and systematic zoology; an extensive book on the fauna of Krakatau was published it 1948.

Idjen (June 1924).-Soemba (Lesser Sunda Isls) (March 14-May 26, 1925)¹ with native collector Iboet (itiner. etc. see there).-Karimoei Djawa Isls (fortnight in May 1926).-P. Baweai (May 4-13, 1928) with native collector Karta (see there).-W. Java: Ardjoeno Estate on G. Papandajan (Sept. 1933); Tjikepoeh in S. Priangan (Apr 1934).
