Son of Hugh M. Curran (see there), took part in the cruise of the ‘Chêng Ho’ through the Moluccas in 1940 (cf. sub D.G. Fairchild), collecting a few plants, but especially seeds in Celebes and the Moluccas (e.g. Halmaheira), etc. (itiner. and liter. see sub Fairchild). In April 1940, when the junk went to Soerabaja for repair, Curran visited the interior of N. Celebes, but evidently visited other parts of the island too (e.g. collecting seeds at Masamba and Paloe), joining the expedition once more at Makassar. When the expedition came to a close in June, he took a position with the Philippine Packing Corporation in Mindanao, P.I. |
