Zoologist, educated at Arizona, and Harvard (Cambridge), was attached to several expeditions, viz to Africa (1926-27), Indo-China (1928-29), and as Leader to the Asiatic Primate Expedition (1937). During the latter expedition plants were collected by J.A. Griswold (see there); Coolidge did not climb Mt Kinabalu. A member of the Pacific Science Council, representing the U.S. Nat. Academy of Sciences, for many years. After his retirement by the end of 1971 he was awarded a Honorary Life Fellowship. |
