Born: 1898, Oslo, Norway.

career:

Botanist, educated at Yale University, where he took his Ph.Dr’s degree in 1924. From 1924-25 Fellow Bishop Museum, Honolulu; at the University and on the staff of the Botanic Garden at Oslo, 1925-29; Botanist of the Bernice P. Bishop Museum and Professor of Botany at Honolulu, Hawaii, 1929-33; in 1929 attended the 4th Pac. Sci. Congress in Java. From 1933 onwards Curator of the Botanical Museum, Roy. Frederick University, Oslo. Leader of a scientific expedition to Tristan da Cunha in 1937/38. From 1947 Cultural Attaché to the Roy. Norwegian Embassy at Washington, D.C.

Collecting localities:

1929. During the Pan-Pacific Science Congress. At least on Krakatau (Soenda Straits);¹ W. Java: Buitenzorg, G. Gedeh-Pangrango² and Tjibodas, probably near Priok, Islands in the bay of Batavia; Centr. Java: Tjilatjap; E. Java: G. Tengger, and Madoera Isl.
