His father, Cornelis Chastelein, had several drawings made for the ‘Herbarium Amboinense’ of Rumphius. |

Sent a specimen of Caryophyllus (= clove) to J.P. Breyn (cf. J. Breynius, Prodromi fasciculi rariorum plantarum, 1739, p. 50). Specimens of Breyn’s Herbarium are preserved in the Brit. Museum [BM], at Oxford [OXF], and with Herb. Burman at Geneva (Deless.) [G] and maybe at Leiden [L]. These herbaria might contain other plants collected by Chastelein. |
