Pharmacist, graduated (Ph. Dr) at Utrecht University in 1891; in the same year he went to the D.E.I., where he was appointed Military Dispenser; Chief of the Pharmacological Laboratory of the Buitenzorg Botanic Gardens, 1892-1917, and since 1904 besides teacher at the School of Agriculture at Buitenzorg; since 1914 until his retirement Director of the said school. He was the editor of the periodical Teysmannia from 1911-22. His publications are all in the field of chemistry and pharmacology. Piper boorsmae C.DC. was named after him. |

Inst. Amsterdam: some specimens of plants (1912 and previously); in Show Mus. Berl.: 59 nos pharmacol. coll. from Java (pres. 1907). Hort. Bog.: in the course of years many living plants from several localities. |
