Attended the ‘Technikum Mitweida’ in Germany, came to Java in 1878 and was employee at Selokaton Estate, Centr. Java, since 1879; in 1882 appointed Estate-Manager of Soekamangli and in 1890 of Selokaton. He retired in 1916, settling at Buitenzorg where he devoted himself to photography and the study of fibre plants. |

Herb. Bog. [BO]: material of some Bombax species from Kendal (Centr. Java), dried and in spirit (through the intermediary of Koorders pres. in 1911); 6 nos from Gebangan (Aug. 23, 1915 coll.). In Hort. Bog.: orchids from Semarang, presented in 1894 and some from Bali in 1919 (collected himself?). In Herb. Kol. (= Ind.) Inst. Amsterdam: Crotalaria usaramoensis Bak.f. (pres. 1919). |
