Son of William Barbey,1 who was educated at Munich and elsewhere in Natural Sciences (specially zoology and entomology) and subsequently in forestry; Dr Sci.; for years forester at Montcherand Sur Orbe (Vaud, Switzerland); retired several years ago; since four years paralyzed after a stroke. He made a voyage round the world, evidently visiting Java in March 1891. |
