A surgeon under the Government of India and from 1860-68 Superintendent of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Calcutta.1 He was also the first Conservator of Forests in Bengal. In 1861 he made a journey to Java in connection with Cinchona culture. In 1868 he returned to Scotland on account of illness and spent his time in working on Acanthaceae. Eranthemum andersoni Masters was named after him. |
