‘Tribunus militum’, is cited as the collector of Calamus litoralis near Batavia, W. Java, by Blume (Rumphia 3, 1847, p. 43). A Lieutenant-Colonel (Overste) Winter made zoological collections in Java (cf. Mollusken Preuss. Expedition by E. von Martens). A Colonel A.F. Winter (died 1862, Dillenburg, Germany) was joint manager of the Fund for Raised Military Pensions in 1824, in 1828 a Member and subsequently President of the Audit-Office; retired in 1841. He may be identical with the collectors of botanical and zoological material. |
