A Dutch inhabitant of Malacca, in 1832 put in charge of Naning, and in 1837 appointed Assistant Resident of Malacca; friend of Griffith, who sent plants to the latter from Keru between Ayer Panas and Tebong, Malay Peninsula,1 probably in the forties. Arenga westerhoutii Griff. was named after him (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936). |
