Botanist, educated at Utrecht University, where he took his Ph. Dr’s degree in 1932. From 1934-46 on the staff of the Deli Experiment Station (Medan Sumatra East Coast), subsequently Head of the Agricultural Service of the Deli-Batavia Company; after his evacuation to Holland, he returned to Medan in 1947. |
