career:

A Japanese plant collector who had numerous specimens of a new Dendrobium collected and sold them to Singapore;1 the species had been discovered in 1932 near Martapoera in SE. Borneo by Fronius, a civil engineer.

It is a pity that the name takahashii has been given to this Dendrobium by C.E. Carr, as this Japanese nearly succeeded in the extermination of this beautiful species. Fortunately the name proved to be a synonym of D. ovipostoriferum J.J.Sm.
