Born: 1861, Frankfurt a/M, Germany. Died: 1927, Bonn, Germany.

 

career:

Zoologist who graduated in 1888 at Leipsic; probably subsequently employed at Frankfurt a/M. Since 1906 professor at Bonn University. In 1889/90 he made a voyage to the Dutch East Indies, for several months working in the Foreigners’ Laboratory at Buitenzorg.1

1889. Singapore (Apr.). -1889-90. W. Java: Batavia, Buitenzorg, G. Gedeh (summit and Tjibodas), G. Salak, Bekasi, Tandjong Priok, Arga Sarie Estate on G. Malabar, G. Tangkoeban Prahoe, environs of Garoet, Duizend Eilanden (Bay of Batavia); Krakatau (Sunda Strait); Centr. Java; Moluccas: Ambon (Hitoe and Leitimor), S. coast Ceram, islands of Haroekoe and Saparoea, touching at Batjan and N. Celebes; in Febr. 1890 leaving Java.
