Private University teacher at Halle a/Saale, in 1872 appointed Professor of Botany at Strassburg, and in 1879 Director of the Botanic Garden at Göttingen and besides Professor of the university there; from 1888 till his superannuation in 1907, Professor at Strassburg again. He paid a visit to Java (see below), making several provisional researches and collecting a considerable amount of material for later studies.1 Author of several taxonomic papers, especially dealing with Rafflesiaceae. He is commemorated in the genus Absolmsia Kuntze. |
