É. de Wildeman (in ‘Prodrome de la flore algologique des Indes Néerl.’ 1897) cites a certain Schmidt as collector of Algae in Java and Sumbawa. The name Schmidt between brackets after the locality in de Wildeman’s ‘Prodrome’ probably means that A. Schmidt in his ‘Atlas’ mentions that locality for the species in question. As in other cases in the same book the name between brackets is certainly the collector’s name, it is rather confusing. |

According to Koorders (cf. Kon. Akad. Wet. Amsterdam 2e sect. 14, no 4, 1908, p. 31 and 55), C. Decandolle saw specimens of Piperaceae collected by Schmidtin Java and preserved in Herb. Berl. [B]. |
