Born: 1901, Amsterdam, Holland. Died: 1980, Wageningen, Gld, Holland.

career:

Studied biology in the University of Amsterdam and took her Ph. Dr’s degree in 1929 on a thesis dealing with peat formations in Holland. Subsequently she was awarded the Buitenzorg Fund and came to the D.E. l. in 1930;¹ when the Director of the Botanic Gardens, W.M. Docters van Leeuwen, went on furlough, she was temporarily attached to that institution; after his return for some time Assistant at the Medical College, Batavia. Mid-1931 she returned to Holland and was for several years Assistant in the University of Amsterdam. In 1939 she went to Java again at her own expense and was appointed peat specialist at the Soil Science Institute, Buitenzorg. In 1952 appointed Professor of Botany in the Medical College at Djakarta.⁴ In June 1954 she went on leave to Holland and was appointed as pedologist at Wageningen in 1955.
