Born: 1901, Amsterdam, Holland. Died: 1980, Wageningen, Gld, Holland.

 

career:

Studied biology in the University of Amsterdam and took her Ph. Dr’s degree in 1929 on a thesis dealing with peat formations in Holland. Subsequently she was awarded the Buitenzorg Fund and came to the D.E. l. in 1930;1 when the Director of the Botanic Gardens, W.M. Docters van Leeuwen, went on furlough, she was temporarily attached to that institution; after his return for some time Assistant at the Medical College, Batavia. Mid-1931 she returned to Holland and was for several years Assistant in the University of Amsterdam. In 1939 she went to Java again at her own expense and was appointed peat specialist at the Soil Science Institute, Buitenzorg. In 1952 appointed Professor of Botany in the Medical College at Djakarta.4 In June 1954 she went on leave to Holland and was appointed as pedologist at Wageningen in 1955.

Galoenggoeng, G. Sawal and Lake Pendjaloe. Tour to Centr. Sumatra (Indragiri), Riouw Archipelago and W. Borneo (Sept.-Oct.).-1948. W. Borneo. Cf. sub Enoh-1949. W. Borneo: from Pontianak visiting Sumur Bor, Mempawah, Andjongan, Mandor, Sungai Kunjit and Pasir Pandjang near Singkawang (between June 26 and July 3); a tour to the Kapuas and the Kapuas Lakes (Sept. 18-Oct. 30)5, e.g. near Semitau, Pulau Madjang, Danau Pentulak, Pulau Sepandan, etc.-From 1948-50 incidentally some plants in Java.

Borneo 1939, nos 525-635 from Sumatra & Riouw 1940, and nos 636-733 from W. Borneo 1940. 25 Nos from G. Lawoe in E. Java in private herbarium which was moved to Herb. Bog. [BO] during World War II.

> 600 nos from above-mentioned tours (1948, 1949) in Herb. Bog. [BO]. The plants on the Kapuas tour were collected with the assistance of Main (see there). Some living plants, orchids and others, in Hort. Bog. Cf. also sub Enoh.
