Palmer van den Broek, Charles Louis Joseph

Born: 1862, Soerakarta, Java. Died: 1937, The Hague, Holland.

 

career:

Was educated in Holland and came back to the D.E.I. in 1887, in the employ of the Civil Service; finally Resident of Ternate (1912-15); subsequently retired.

Author of a paper on the Batang-Hari Districts in Sumatra.1

He is commemorated in the genus Palmervandenbroekia Gibbs, as he was of great assistance to the authoress, when she was exploring in New Guinea.
