Since 1931 Assistant for Agrarian Affairs in the employ of the autonomic Sambas District, stationed at Singkawang in West Borneo. He collected living orchids which were cultivated in his private garden. Author of some papers in ‘De Orchidee’. Dendrobium paathii J.J.Sm. was named after him. |

Of species unknown to him, he evidently sent flowers in alcohol and photographs to the editors of ‘De Orchidee’. The latter transmitted those to J.J. Smith, then already a resident of Oegstgeest near Leiden.1 The material probably preserved in Herb. Leiden [L]. |
