Probably identical with the official of the D.E.I. Civil Service C. Wilhelm August Nagel (see below sub Collections) who climbed G. Goentoer in July 1837 in company with Junghuhn and once more on Aug. 9, 1844; cf. also sub G.H. Nagel! Several plants were named after him (cf. Backer, Verkl. Woordenb., 1936). |

Herb. Berl. [B]: lichens and 425 nos of siphonogams from Java (pres. 1858). Some of them described in Warburg, Monsunia (1900). Zollinger acquired plants from the inheritance of the murdered (± 1845/46) Assistant Resident van Nagel who made all of his collections in Priangan Regency.1 This is evidently the W.A. Nagel of the registers of the Dutch Government (1793 or 1794, Hoyel, Hannover, Germany; Jan. 3, 1846, ? , Java), who came out to Java in 1819, was in various functions at Bandoeng and Tjiandjoer, and in 1832 appointed Assistant Resident of the Civil Service at Bandoeng; on Dec. 26, 1845 an attempt on his life was made of which he died shortly after. Probably the initial C. was dropped by mistake, as C.W.A. Nagel is mentioned in the Official Almanac of the Dutch East Indies as Assistant Resident at Bandoeng in the forties of the 19th century. |
