Studied medicine at Leiden, Amsterdam, Paris, and Berlin and took his Dr’s degree in 1908;1 successively University Lecturer in Medical Social History, honorary Professor of Anthropology and Medicine on behalf of the Colonial (= Indian) Institute (Amsterdam); and since 1924 Professor (previously Extraordinary) of Anthropology and Prehistory. |

Herb. Kol. (= Ind.) Inst. Amsterdam: herbarium + material in alcohol of Sumatra plants (pres. 1909). In his book on Nias,2 he mentions to have made a botanical collection there, which was brought back to Holland for identification;3 the present location not known. The Sumatra collection was identified by Greshoff and Hallier; it mainly consisted of incomplete material of medicinal plants. |
