Was educated at the Agricultural College, Wageningen, and the Technical College, Delft; he went to Java as employee on the tea estate Ardjasári (Malabar); in 1880 Manager of the same estate and afterwards Director of the concerning company. In 1906 he returned to Europe. His special interest was entomology; his large collections were bequeathed to the Natural History Museum, Leiden. Ficus kerkhovenii Valet. was named after him. |
